We’re really pleased to announce the 2017 Ukulele Hooley By The Sea will happening in Dun Laoghaire, Co. Dublin. Over the past few years we’ve presented some the most talented ukulele performers and groups from around the world and 2017 will be no exception.
Among the many artists who’ve appeared at the Ukulele Hooley are Belgium’s Winin’ Boys, Ukulele ZaZa, Minnie & The Illywhackers, Del Rey, Andy Eastwood, Peter Moss, Ukulele Uff & Lonesome Dave, Janet Klein, France’s Les Poupees Gonflee, Fred Sokolow, Shine (from Spain), Gus and Finn Trio, Ukulele Red & Li’l Mamie Brown, The East River String Band, Ireland’s West Cork Ukulele Orchestra, Ukeristic Congress and Aisling Goes Walking, UK’s Hot Potato Syncopators, Casey McGill, James Clem, The Mourning Glories and many other fine artists and groups.
We will be announcing this years programme over the next few weeks but I can tell you we are excited by the lineup so far!
Most of all we will be featuring all the elements that have made the Ukulele Hooley one of the most friendly and enjoyable festivals and that’s our goal again this year.
So keep an eye on our Facebook Page, the Ukulele Hooley website and we promise you a weekend of ukulele fun and frolics!
New Festival Hub:
Dun Laoghaire’s oldest club, The Eblana, is the Ukulele Hooley 2017 Festival Club & Hub.
All the Ukulele Workshops, The Open Mic and the late night Ukulele Shenanigans will be happening there. As well as a full bar, there will also be an authentic Mexican street food stall at the Eblana from about 1pm on Saturday.
We are very grateful to our hosts the Eblana Club for their generosity in making the club available to us for the festival weekend.
The Big Jam at the Hooley:
After 8 great years of the Hooley its time to celebrate with all those who have made it great; you the festival goers! What better way to do so than to make you all one of the main acts!
On August 27th we hope to gather a massive crowd of ukers to play with us at the main stage in the peoples park Dún Laoghaire. What better way to amplify the fun of the ukulele by having a massive crowd play some of the best known tunes! Download Jam PDF Book here!!
So get your ukes tuned, and be sure to be there as one of the main acts!
